This daring example of Victorian architecture stands as proof of the vast variety of architectural styles among old North Carolina courthouses, which represent virtually every significant architectural period. The arched entrance forms the base of a giant five-stage clock tower that is topped by a pyramidal roof. Designed in 1892, in the heyday of the Victorian era, this courthouse is located in the city's vibrant historic district. [link]
